Why Gender Matters
Lenox Shuman and LJP Chair Ras Khafra attended the University of Guyana’s 12th Vice-Chancellor’s Renaissance Lecture. The event was held in collaboration with the Women & Gender Equality Commission under the theme “Why Gender Matters – Reflections on Two Caribbean Realities”. The evening was Chaired by Mr. Andrew Hicks with welcome and occasion remarks from the Vice-Chancellor and Principal of UG, Professor Ivelaw L. Griffith, remarks from Hon. Indranie Chandrapaul, MP, Chair of the Women & Gender Equality Commission. The lecture given by the guest of honour, multi award-winning academic Prof. Emerita Rhoda Reddock, who spoke to the theme of the evening with authority and gravitas, to the receptive attendees of Sociology students and Renaissance Lecture regulars. Lenox Shuman, Presidential Candidate for the Liberty & Justice Party contributed to the evening during the Q&A session with his remarks on the need for more women of "Quality" to be represented in the National Assembly.
